OVER ENERGIZATION

There may be applications where the load to be started exceeds the starting torque rating of the clutch. In such cases the clutch may be over energized for a short period of time to increase its torque and response. The diagram below shows a typical circuit for the heavy industrial and brakes.

Through the use of overenergization the engagement time of the clutch or brake will decrease. If faster response is desired the three circuits and curves below show the effects of overenergization. These curves are for the SFDC or RFDC (size 395) with non-asbestos or dry bronze discs. The actual engagement times for other sizes and models will be different.
